Lucescu: “I don’t cry, I always say what I feel”

by

Year preparing him PAOK for an even more competitive face in the new season characterized this year’s o Razvan Lucescu. The Romanian coach again referred to the part of the referee, arguing that his team has been wronged and that he himself says what he feels.

We are who we are. Sometimes we will win, sometimes not. Sometimes we will create many chances and not score, sometimes we will score with less. In the entire league, we are the team with the fewest defeats, together with Olympiakos, we have two. We have said that the work of this season will be seen next season. To our surprise, this work gives us many things this year as well. The experience gained by the footballers, the situations we are in… I think we are able to enjoy every game, without that meaning that we don’t want to win every game, which is our goal.

We learn to face difficulties and decisions that are very unfair to us. Penalties given against us, situations with goal-offside, which are not canceled, the scene with Levadeiakos with a penalty which was not and was given despite the intervention of VAR. It all makes us stronger. I’m not complaining! I’m not crying! I’m here telling things as I feel they are. If there is a game, in which we do not deserve to get something competitively, there is no way I will stand for something like that. We have been in situations where we are wronged.

I have spoken about this situation to the footballers. Mistakes have been made against us, they may be made in the future. But we could have won in Tripoli and Ioannina too, if we had managed to score in the many chances we created. But it brings a maturity to the group and enables all of us to understand how important unity is and how important it is that we all stand together against this».

Regarding the course of the team and whether its counter-attack began after that double at the home of Ionikos a round before, he said “It had started from the game with PAS, before this match with Ionikos… And before, the team was playing good football, but we had two losses and some draws that cost us. What we lacked and want to maintain, was the intensity, confidence and chemistry between the players. Time has enabled us to increase all three of these elements. One element we should probably improve and keep the rest is to be able to score more easily, when we create many chances, to be able to get the points more easily».

For today’s match with Ionikos: “They are a team that can create problems, like with Panathinaikos, with AEK, with Aris, so they can do the same with us. It has players with experience and quality. Teams struggling to avoid relegation, like Ionian, have a ‘science’ of challenging in these games, creating problems for the opposition. It’s something we discussed that we should avoid, we should be totally focused. People on the outside might not understand it, but when you’re up against these teams, they have a way of making the game a little dirtier. We must fight, we must not enter with the logic that we have won, but fight for victory. For these teams, it is more difficult to play opponents with a similar goal, but from there they draw the experience to perform as they do in the big games, in which they do not have pressure. This makes them even more dangerous, because it will be a success if they get any result here».
