Kanzouris: “We are optimistic about Mitchell, my choice is that Godikas does not play in the 4th period”

THE AEK got a very important victory, as he prevailed with a score of 95-89 Colossus of Rhodes for its 18th matchday Basketball League.

THE Elias Kanzouris spoke after the match at the press conference, commenting on the performance of the Union, the condition of Mitchell who was absent and the reason why Ladybug despite his excellent third quarter he did not compete in the fourth.

Elias Kanzouris stated in detail:

“It was a nice game for the people who watched it. In terms of how I saw the match, I think in the first half we didn’t have the approach we would have liked to have, I think our defense at the start of the second half gave us the lead that we kept until the end.

It’s an important win considering the game we had in midweek, but also the journey. Kolossos is a good team with huge attacking talent that if you let them play you will have a problem and I think it is a very important victory. For us, continuity has an equally important role for our European course. Tomorrow we will rest and we have two days to prepare for Wednesday’s match against Galatasaray.”

On whether AEK has been helped by the new players: “I think we definitely have more depth. You see, unfortunately, that we have not found a matchday to appear with a full roster. But what is certain is that I feel that we are walking on the right path, I hope we stay healthy to be able to pursue what we have in mind”.

On Mitchell’s condition: “We see it day in and day out. The child definitely has a will, he does what he has to do and from there we are optimistic”

For the option not to play Godikas in the fourth period: “My choice! Just because a player scores 10-15 points doesn’t mean he has to stay on the court for 40 minutes. Kostas played a good game, he helped us, but in the end we decided that we needed other things like the experience of Oriola, so that we could face some things that Kolossos did and I think it was clearly a choice of mine.”

For the difficult program that the Union has in front of it: “I think that every game for us is a final. Certainly in the back of my mind I have the back-to-back schedule and my goal is to have everyone available and at the same time keep the team as fresh as possible since we’re trying to play high-energy, defensive-minded basketball. and speed, so for that to happen the players have to have energy”
