Euroleague Players’ Union on the Panathinaikos-Andreus divorce: “Cooperation in good faith”

by

For her role in the solution of his cooperation Panathinaikou by Andrew Andrews, after many fruitless attempts by the “greens”, the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) was placed. It is recalled that the American guard, who had been out of the plans for months, refused to terminate his contract and free up a place for a foreigner in the domestic roster.

The ELPA announcement:

After the impasse in the cooperation between Andrew Andrews and Panathinaikos, ELPA, which had at times tried to lead the two sides to an amicable solution, proposed that instead of unilateral moves, the two sides tried to end their cooperation on mutually acceptable terms and with mediation assistance.

ELPA suggested to Mr Andrews and his representatives that the EuroLeague mediate as required by the regulations. On March 2, the player officially requested mediation between himself and the club. With the help of the appointed mediator the two sides agreed to terminate their contract by mutual consent on 10 March.

ELPA is satisfied that during the mediation Mr. Andrews, his representatives’ attorney and Panathinaikos cooperated in good faith and were able to find a mutually acceptable solution. He would also like to thank EuroLeague and the ombudsman they appointed for their assistance in this matter».
