Verstappen: “The possibility of claiming the victory starting from 15th position is removed”

Tomorrow’s (19/3, 19:00) Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia will start from Max Verstappenafter retiring from Q2 of qualifying with a mechanical problem, before he could complete a timed lap.

Her Dutch pilot Red Bull through his statements he emphasized that he called the scenario to take the victory far-fetched, however he added that Perez, who took the pole, has many chances to finish first.

In addition, he also referred to the mechanical problem his car faced, characterizing it as extremely unfortunate.

What the Red Bull pilot said in detail:

“I think trying to win the race is a bit far-fetched because of the management we have to do with the tyres, and everyone seems to be riding at a certain pace. If everything goes well in the first round, I think we can move up some places, but in a city circuit like the one in Saudi Arabia, there is more risk. We have good hopes for victory, since Perez has the opportunity to disappear on the horizon”.

“We will try to recover as many positions as we can. I know it’s a long season, and a lot can happen. The car was very fast throughout the two days, every time I entered the track it worked very well, I felt comfortable. I’m sure we can win places”.

For the mechanical problem you encountered: “It’s extremely unfortunate, and something I don’t understand because we haven’t had that problem so far this year. Everything was fine until then, to be honest. A better two days than Bahrain, for me personally, in terms of the feel of the car. And I think you could see that in the free trials as well. But that doesn’t really matter if you can’t do the placement tests, right? So we have to figure out what went wrong.”.
