Poget: “We’re going for direct qualification, only a win against Gibraltar”

The… tone in view of the Euro 2024 qualifiers and the presence of Greece in the 2nd group of the competition, was given today (20/03) by Gustavo Poget.

With our representative group starting their preparation for the game with Gibraltar and the federal coach of the National Team to note in his statements to the press representatives that the goal is direct qualification!

What Poget said in detail:

For the qualification process: “The children have come with confidence because we achieved our goal in the previous competition (including the Nations League). Now we know that our goal against big opponents is difficult. We want to keep in mind that we are going for direct qualification and not for qualification through a play-off”.

For the match against Gibraltar: “If we want to qualify we have to win this first game. We can’t negotiate this game, not winning.”

For the return of Kostas Fortounis: “I knew Kostas Fortounis, I knew his quality as a footballer, I knew about his injuries. We were actually waiting for him to come, it was the right timing. I want to talk to them so they can understand which group they have joined. I’m waiting to see how the children will integrate.”
