He appeared justified Cedric Bakabu in his statements to Canal+ about his decision to leave Marseille and choose him Olympic for the continuation of his career.
“What didn’t work in Marseille? I think the timing was such that I couldn’t play. When I arrived in Marseille, I was not in top form. Marseille is a big club, there is not necessarily an adjustment period, you have to respond immediately and that’s it… We had a big summer transfer window ahead of us. So we had to make decisions, both me and the team”said Bakabu – initially – and continued:
“I spoke to the management and I think it was better for me to leave. It is a choice that I feel has been vindicated. Today I am happy because I have found my footing. So there are no regrets about leaving Marseille. I think everyone is a winner from this case. I’m doing well at Olympiakos and Marseille are also doing well this year and that’s something that makes me happy».
Bakabu then spoke about the Congolese national team to which he was again called up by their coach, Desambre.
“I want to offer him the best possible ‘weapons’ to achieve his goals. I had put my presence in the National team on… pause and I had time to think. I decided that I have to help my team and my country because it needs it and we all need it.
I had reached a point in my career where I didn’t have a team and I had to put a stop and get things in order. The most important thing is not me, Bakabu, but the team”concluded.
