The candidacya of Britain and Ireland for his undertaking Euro 2028 will have, it seems, a resounding absence in terms of the stadiums proposed.
The reason for it “Old Trafford”which was reportedly left off the list, with the “Etihad” of Manchester City to be preferred to United’s stadium.
The Times reports that a role in this decision of the authorities was played by the fact that the seat of the “citizens” is more modern even though it holds about 20,000 fans less than the historic stadium of the “red devils”.
From United’s point of view, however, it was reported that the issue is… technical, as it was said that “Following discussions with the FA, it has become clear that we cannot provide the necessary pitch availability due to potential works. So it was jointly decided to stay off the field.”
The list started with 14 venues which will be whittled down to ten and entered into the final British and Irish proposal, with six being English.
It will definitely be inside “Wembley”while the probability also gathers “Tottenham Hotspur Stadium”.
Outside of London, Everton’s new stadium, Newcastle’s St James’ Park and Aston Villa’s Villa Park are counted.
London’s Olympic Stadium and Sunderland’s “Stadium Of Light” are likely alternatives, with “Principality Stadium” (Wales), “Casement Park” (Ireland), “Croke Park” (Ireland) and “Hampden Park” ( Scotland) should also be in the file.
Turkey is contesting this candidacy, with the decision to be made next September.
