The Panhellenic Tae Kwon Do Championship will not be held -finally-. This was decided and announced by the sports federation in the country, a decision-consequence of the outbreak of the coronavirus in the last days.
The championship was scheduled to be held in Chalkida on January 27, but as ELOT explains in the announcement based on the data available at the moment it can not be held, as a prerequisite for its successful conduct is the mass participation of athletes.
Announcement of ELOT for the postponement of the Panhellenic championship for men and women:
The decision to postpone the Panhellenic Men’s and Women’s Championship that was scheduled to take place at the indoor gym of Kanithos, in Chalkida, on Thursday, January 27, was taken by the administration of the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation (ELOT).
The desire of the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation was and remains, the mass participation of athletes in the Panhellenic championship of the specific age categories – as it is a criterion for the formation of the national team that will participate in the World and European Championship 2022 – something that may was not ultimately possible due to the onset of the coronavirus and the Omicron variant.
For this reason, ELOT, wanting to protect the institution of the event which is the “flagship” of its pan-Hellenic championships, decides to postpone it.
“As for the” Giorgos Volaris “Cup, it will take place NORMALLY on the three days of January 28, 29 and 30, indoors in Kanithos”.
