The announcement in detail
“The president of UEFA, Mr. Aleksander Ceferin today sent the following letter to the president of EPO Mr. Panagiotis Baltakos:
Dear President, dear Panagiotis,
Following our recent correspondence, I have to inform you that UEFA has informed me deep sadness and strong concern one more incident concerning the offensive and violent behavior towards soccer referees appointed to officiate recent matches at Greek championship.
Despite our joint efforts and in light of recent events, the UEFA reconsidered its support for sending category arbitrators Elite and “A” to direct their matches playoffs of the Greek Superleague 1 and decided to stop, for now, this practice.
These incidents are beyond footballand we are sincerely grateful for your concern on the matter and all the continuous efforts of the Hellenic Football Federation and the Hellenic Government to prevent Such things.
However, right now, we have to prioritize security of our match officials, who must be kept away from such hostile and dangerous situations.
Yours sincerely”
