Basel ready to make history with… the longest run in UEFA history!

THE Reign took a big lead in qualifying for the Europa Conference League final after the great upset in Florence and tonight hosts Fiorentina aiming to preserve it and become the first Swiss team to reach a European final.

But apart from that, Heiko’s team Fogel has the opportunity to make history as she did with… mcoldest run in a UEFA club competition!

You see, “Rotblau” started the season from 2nd qualifying round of the institution, which means that the match with the “violas” will be the 20th – and the final, if the ticket comes, the 21st.

No other team has managed to play so many matches in one season, with the fact that the Swiss finished 2nd in their group and played in the knockout playoffs playing a role.

Basel excluded them Crusaders, Brodby and CSKA Sofia in qualifying, before finishing behind the Slovan Bratislava and in front of them Punic Yerevan and Zalgiris in the groups.

Preliminaries against them followed Trabzonspor, Slovan and Niswith Fiorentina being the final hurdle.

In that time, Fogel’s side have tallied eight wins, seven draws and four losses.
