Statements about Everton staying in the Premier League were made by Sean Dice.
The English coach spoke in great detail about his team’s progress this year, saying, among other things, that the “sweets” did not have depth in the roster, adding that today was a horrible day for him, but they succeeded and finished the “job”.
His statements in detail:
“It’s a horrible day for all concerned, there’s no joy for me other than getting the ‘job’ done. I came here to change the mindset and I think some steps have been taken. There are still more to come. I told the players ‘we shouldn’t be here. Enjoy what you got today, but at the end of the day it has to change. There is no point in sitting back and saying “look how great we are”, because we are not. There is a lot to change here and a lot of work to be done, but it was a big step today,
Everton are a big club, make no mistake. It has a long history, but we don’t play like a big club. We have to find a way to change it. This has been happening for two seasons now. I played my little part in these two seasons, but there are a lot of changes that we need to build to build a new team.
There is no depth in the roster, there have been some conversations, but in terms of additions and subtractions we will see in the next few weeks when we know the truth about what we have, what we can do, what we can’t do.”
