In tragic 30th anniversary of the death of Drazen Petrovichis mother, Biserka, spoke about how she experienced the loss of her son.

We last spoke when he was at the airport in Frankfurt and he told me that he was going to drive with his partner to Munich. A woman called me at dawn, and I will never forget how she broke the tragic news to me in that way. He asked me if I was his mother and told me coldly ‘your son died in a car accident’. I started screaming and ran to the balcony of our house, on the 14th floor. My husband, who was lying down, heard me, jumped out of bed and caught me before I jumped“, he emphasized.

As for how he found the strength to carry on? “Psychiatrists and psychologists saved me. I went to them with the question of how I could go on living. About 3-4 months after the tragedy, the doctor told me ‘not everyone can give birth to a child like him, but you will have to fight for your life. And you will if you continue your work for Drazen’. She recommended any activity that could take my mind off this loss».

At the same time, she talked about her son’s adoration of basketball since childhood. “Drazen’s favorite company was a ball. Every day he got up at 6:30 in the morning and without even eating breakfast he went to the closed room, when only he and the cleaning lady were there. He put chairs to dribble between them and took a lot of shots. Then he would come home quickly and leave for school».
