Ionikos will compete in the new season on the ESKANA courts

The hobbyist Ionikos informed that there is basically no communication from the OEM side. For this reason, he sent a letter to FIBA ​​in order to investigate the status of KAE Ionikos with which he competed in the first year in A1 and the investigation of any debts. Based on FIBA’s response, our Team had a BAN which was however adjusted. At the same time, a meeting was held with the former administrative leader of the group at the time, Mr. Vangelis Tsapa, regarding KAE’s debts to IKA and tax authorities during the period of his involvement in the administrative affairs of Ionian. Mr. Tsapas himself announced that he will cover any debts that fall during the period of his presence in Ionikos.

At the same time, we would like to inform you that any debts of KAE Diagoras Dryopidea which competed under the distinctive name “Ionian Basketball KAE” have nothing to do with or burden our Association.

Based on the above, the A.O. Ionikos Nikias made it clear that it is making every possible effort so that the team competes in the highest category possible based on legislation and the new financial possibilities it has.

More specifically, the claim of the wild card for participation in the 3rd National Championship fell on the table. Nevertheless, both the financial requirements (10 thousand euros for the wild card and another 10 thousand euros as guarantee capital) as well as the financial solvency (that the Association should not be in debt, something that is not the case with A.O. Ionikos ) makes the move in question impossible. Therefore, the only option Ionian has at the moment is ESCANA. Based on this development and when it is finalized, more will be said about the goals and consequently about the budget, transfers etc. What is certain is that we are going to a total restart which will be based on the same resources with a clear philosophy that Ionikos returns to Nice, is built on its Academies which are now among the best in Attica. We know very well the city we represent and we are sure that a new effort, clean and honest, will be well received by the city and beyond. At this level, there is no one left and the sponsors who have been with us all these years, the friends of the Team with their seasons and their presence, should take Ionikos on their backs and keep him alive. We are born for the difficult. Nothing scares us and we have proven it many times.

This philosophy – turning, for the Association to rely more on the athletes themselves, is a philosophy that also governs the rest of the sports, such as the men’s and women’s volleyball division, which has changed plans and will be staffed basically by “own his guys.

At the same time, we would like to inform you that regardless of the outcome of the men’s team, the improvement of the infrastructure does not stop. For this reason, a total renovation of the closed “Plato” will soon take place, with changes to the ceiling, lighting, windows and exterior painting.

Of course, the renovation does not stop at the basketball court, as close to the basketball court there is the boxing area that goes entirely to the Ionian, where a complete renovation will be carried out, simultaneously marking the new beginning in the department.

The above reasoning is part of a logic that has taken over Amateur Ionikos in the last five years that whatever happens at the competitive level, we want the best conditions for our sportsmen and women. More generally, the Ionian era of endless economic problems, an Ionian small and “phobic”, has passed irretrievably. Within five years, Ionikos has doubled its divisions, has settled its debts to the public while settling part of its debts to third parties, has rapidly increased the athletes it has in its ranks and despite the daily difficulties is here to looks to the future with pride and optimism.
