There will be Greek entries only in the men’s and women’s epee and epee. On Friday 16 June at 13:00 the women’s epee championship will be held (start 13:00), on Saturday 17 June the men’s saber championship will be held (start 11:00) and on Sunday 18 June the championships of men’s epee (start 09:00) and women’s epee (start 13:00). The semi-finals and finals of all categories will start at 18:30 on all three days.
In the women’s epee, Despina Georgiadou (PAO), Dora Goundoura (AO Ariston Paanias), and Marina Paizi (AS Victoria) will compete. We remind you that Georgiadou and Gundoura are chasing the Olympic qualification and the Bulgarian event will give important points for the world ranking. A total of 51 gymnasts from 15 different countries have entered the event, and the Ukrainian Olga Karlan (FIE No7) and the French Caroline Keroli (FIE No12) will be absent from the 17 Europeans in the top 20 of the world. In the men’s epee, Greece will be represented by Dimitris Kafataridis (AO Ariston Paanias). Against him will be 50 athletes from 14 different countries.
Katerina Kontochristopoulou (AOX Aegaleo) and Stavrina Garifallou (AOX Aegaleo) will compete in the women’s sword exercise. 56 gymnasts from 18 different countries have entered the event. In the men’s category of the same weapon, Nikos Kontochristopoulos (AOX Aegaleo) and Ilias Giannos-Rizos (AOX Aegaleo) will compete among other 69 athletes from 21 countries.
