The increase in foreign players in Turkish teams is “stuck”.

At the General Assembly held on Wednesday (21/6), the 16 teams participating in the first division of the neighboring country’s league were invited to vote if they wish to increase the number of foreign players.

So far, in domestic competitions every team has the right to declare on the match sheet five foreigners. Today, therefore, the proposal fell on the table to play up to six non-Turkish players from the new season.

However, the results of the relevant vote they showed no intention of it. According to the vote, then, nine groups they voted to keep the same regulation, that is, with five foreigners on the roster. Just four voted for the increase to six, while the rest (s.s. six) they voted white. Be that as it may, the final decision will be made by the Turkish Basketball Federation and will be announced in the next few days.

Finally, the dates for next year’s championship were also announced, while it was clarified that in this one 16 teams will normally participate and at the moment there is no mood for any increase. The regular season will begin on September 30 and it will be completed on May 5 or 12, 2024. The Final 8 of the Cup will be held 13-18 February 2024.

On the other, it will not take place the Super Cup and the All Star Game next year.
