THE Fotis Ioannidiswho was one of the three footballers who presented the new Panathinaikos shirt, spoke on the sidelines of the event, both about the draw of the “greens” in the Champions League qualifiers, and about the new season.
The 23-year-old striker said that everyone will give their… 1000% to qualify against Dniprowhile he then emphasized that next year the… answer of the “clover” will be the winning the championship.
Fotis Ioannidis’ statements in detail:
What do you think of the new looks?
“It’s a collaboration with Adidas, which leaves me ecstatic I can say. I really like the new looks and I believe that the jerseys are good luck and we will achieve in the new season what we, the management and the people want.”
What did you think of the draw with Dnipro?
“We knew we would face one of Dnipro and Genk. I personally had no preference. It happened to be Dnipro. I don’t know this team very well at the moment, but we will definitely analyze them and see enough games to be ready when we face them. As I told you, I don’t know the dynamics, but it is certainly an important game for the Champions League qualifiers. We will give 1000% to get the qualification. If the team is committed to its goal and works properly, it is at our feet. I believe we will succeed.”
Can Dnipro not playing at home make you complacent?
“No, we will never be complacent because it’s something we want like crazy. In other words, to be in Champions League groups, in this top competition. There was no way this would make us relax, but it just gives us more motivation. We know it’s more difficult for a team to play away from home.”
Panathinaikos is getting better and better year by year. What do you think is the next step?
“I think that Panathinaikos should look at nothing less than winning the championship and making great strides in Europe. We want to play European games and of course distinguish ourselves. This is the goal of both the players and the management, but also the world, which is constantly by our side. Every footballer will give 100% to achieve our goals.”
Panathinaikos ended the season on a bitter note, as the championship was lost in the end. Is the team mentally prepared for the new season?
“There is bitterness in us that we didn’t win the league, but certainly in the season that ended we took a step in the right direction. What happened last year is normal, that is, Panathinaikos fighting until the last match for the championship, although of course we are saddened that we did not win it. Now of course we look ahead and year after year we bring Panathinaikos where it deserves to be based on its size. Last season is in the past and the new championship is the way to… respond and I believe we will succeed”.
What is the big goal for you what new season?
“As I have said many times. My goal is to establish myself at Panathinaikos and become a point of reference. With hard work and being completely focused on the goal I believe I will succeed. Together with Panathinaikos, I am also taking steps forward. My main goal is to do everything for the team to achieve its goals.”
