“During the year I tried to get in touch and arrange the preparation part with the Spanish coaches, this happened in the last month. I started the solo I performed a month ago and finished it a week before I came to Fukuoka.

All gymnasts work for at least a year on the choreography we will present in order to come to this competition. It was a month’s work for me. Some mistakes were made which cost me the medal, I will find out later. If these had not happened I would be in the medals. It was the last-second move that made the difference. You can go from first to last, the lines are very thin, especially when a program has ended a week before its race. It needs special attention ».

On whether he has a bitterness after what happened, he said: “I’m definitely upset. Nevertheless, I am happy with my appearance. The system has changed so much that the pressure is enormous. Almost all the gymnasts have this year attended the competitions that have taken place during the year and have more experience. It was the second race for us, we still don’t have the experience needed with the new regulations, it was a race to learn and we will come back stronger and work to go stronger in the next race, which is in Doha for qualifying».
