At the top of the world with a world record, Anastasiadou-Kondou!

Great moment for Greek sports, after they climbed to the top of the world Evangelia Anastasiadou and Milena Kontou in the lightweight double sculls at U23 World Rowing Championships.

The Greek crew took first place in the final with a time of 6:50.13. Something that is actually a world record, leaving Poland second (6:52.72), while Italy followed (7:02.91) with a considerable margin of course.

In fact, in the event that was held in Bulgaria and ended today, Greece celebrated another medal. This time it was bronze, with Evangelia Fragou taking third place in the sculls final with 7:41.18. The gold went to Switzerland’s Jansen (7:34.00) and the silver to Bergin from Ireland (7:37.72).

In the remaining Greek events, in the K23 women’s double sculls Sofia Dalidou-Gabriela Lioliou finished in sixth place with 7:18.13.

In the corresponding men’s event, Nikos Cholopoulos-Dimitris Papazoglou were second in the “small” final with a time of 6:18.82 and ranked 8th overall.

The quadruple without the men, with Dimitris Zografo-Pavlos Faita-Leonida Palaiopano-Leonida Tzoumezis, was ranked 4th in the “small” final with 5:56.53 and 10th overall, while finally Stratos Triantaphyllou was sixth in the “small” final of the lightweight skiff with 7:18.04 and 12th overall .
