Diamantopoulou: “The game was within our reach, but we did not find a solution”

The women’s national polo team was defeated in the quarterfinals by Australia with a score of 9-8, leaving them out of the top four of the World Cup, with Chrysi Diamantopoulou unable to hide her bitterness after the defeat.

In particular, the player of the national team said: “It was a game to our liking. Their pressing pinned us down offensively and we couldn’t find solutions. Maybe it was some bad choices of ours, we made shots without conditions, at the last moment. We tried to turn it around, but Australia are a very strong team. We started out numb today. If we had entered a little more energetically, if we had been ahead, things probably would have been easier for us. There was pressure and in the end it was logical that this should come out” Diamantopoulou initially said to the ERT camera

Then he added: “The goal was the top four and to claim our rightful position. We have worked very hard on this. But it doesn’t mean that everything is over and we won’t have opportunities to qualify for the Olympic Games, but personally I am left with a bitterness because I think that the game was ours and it was lost without any difference between the two teams”
