Luke Sikma responded to the comparisons made with Vezenkov in his first statements as an Olympiakos player.
The new ace of the Red and Whites, speaking to olympiacosbc.gr, emphasized that he is a different player from last year’s Euroleague MVP and declared that he is absolutely sure that his style of play perfectly matches his Olympiakou.

On his proposal from Olympiakos:
“My contract with Alba was completed and the offer came from Olympiakos. I know what type of player I am and the way I play I will fit perfectly into the team. To be precise, as far as the purely basketball part is concerned, for me we are the perfect combination (‘the perfect match’)! Also, the fact that I will have the opportunity to live in such a beautiful city in Greece was something I couldn’t pass up.”
-If the fact that he somehow comes to take Vezenkov’s place has extra pressure:
“I don’t see it that way. I am a special player and it would be wrong to see it as coming to fill the shoes of a player, as he is. I come to play my game and help the team achieve all its goals. For me things are so simple!’
