Alafouzos to Reuters: “EPO has not done the slightest thing about corruption in Greek football”

by

An interview with the German Reuters was granted by Yannis Alafouzos.

The powerful man of PAE Panathinaikos spoke about Greek football, stressing that the UEFA should be more actively involved in the affairs of the sport in our country, while regarding the corruption that exists, he made it clear that the EPO has not done the slightest thing to eliminate it.

Finally, Mr. Alafouzos also threw the “ball” at the Greek government, saying that it should clean up this situation, while highlighting the importance of eliminating violence and strong policing in stadiums.

In detail what the powerful man of PAE Panathinaikos stated:

“I think it is very important that UEFA participates more actively in the affairs of Greek football. Although each federation is independent. I was very glad that they took the time to deal with the problems that a small country faces with football. It was a very good sign.

Policing is very important. Private security can’t do physical checks, detect counterfeit tickets, can’t do identity checks if we don’t have police. There is corruption. The EPO has done nothing about it for years. If the federation is not convinced to control the functioning of football, you cannot solve the problems.

I think the government is trying to clean up the situation. UEFA is also trying but I don’t know how much power they think they have. The government cannot intervene unless UEFA does.”.
