In EEC and Dimitris Itoudis are headed for an amicable divorce. The president of the federation, Vangelis Liolios, met this morning with the coach making one account about the course of the National team this summer.
In a very good atmosphere and with the same views, it became clear although there is still nothing to announce that the two sides will go their separate ways. The estimation of the federation in the person of the coach is a given, since after last year’s excellent effort that stopped against the mighty (as it showed this year) Germany in the quarter-finals in Berlin, this year the available roster did not leave much room for excesses.
Everything shows that in the near future there will be the formalization of the solution of the cooperation of the two sides, in a friendly way. After all, the goal of the EEC is to immediately turn the page and Vassilis Spanoulis is just around the corner. In fact, the new coach will be at the helm of the team at the end of February, in the first two games for the Eurobasket qualifiers against the Czech Republic (home) and the Netherlands (away). EuroLeague players will also be available in this “window”, since the tournament is suspended. Thus, the federal coach will be able to use this period as a first preparation for the Pre-Olympic Tournament (July 2-7), as there will not be enough training time in the summer.
