THE Ole Gunnar Solskjaer missed the chance to return to the bench nearly two years after being fired from Manchester Unitednot accepting the offer to take over the Norwegian women’s national team.
The 50-year-old manager and former footballer has been out of work since November 2021, when he lost his place on the Red Devils bench as a result of their poor start to the 2021-2022 season.
As the Scandinavian himself confirmed, he was recently offered the prospect of returning to the game by taking charge of his country’s women’s national team, but he turned it down.
“Yes, I have spoken to the federation about the national team coach job“, he revealed to the Norwegian media Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.
“I’ve been asked, but I’m not ready for that yet“, he continued. Speaking at an event held in his honor last May, the legendary United form had hinted at the circumstances that would see him coaching again in the future:
“I’m willing to go back to work if the opportunity is right and if it’s something exciting enough“, he had mentioned.
“There are so many groups, but I will not work just for the sake of work. It has to be something special, a new culture, or a team that really fascinates me. Or maybe they want me at United in some capacity! Who knows;“, closed.
