The Portuguese elite Arthur Soares in AEK-Olympiakos, Papapetrou in PAOK-Aris!

THE Portuguese elite Arthur Soares appointed by KED to direct the big derby between AEK and Olympiacos at OPAP Arena! His assistants will be his compatriots Paulo Soares and Ribeiro and the fourth will be Diamantopoulos, while the VAR will be the also Portuguese Miguel Hugo. However, despite the announcements-promises for a foreign referee in PAOK’s derby with Aris, Steve Bennett nominated Papapetrou with VAR Sidiropoulos! Papapetrou’s assistants in Toumba will be Dimitriadis and Aptosoglou, with Papadopoulos as the fourth.

It is worth remembering that just last Tuesday (12/09), with its announcement, the EPO made it known that the Alexander Ceferin contact him Panagiotis Baltakos and conveyed to him that both derbies of the 4th round of the Stoiximan Super League will be played with foreign referees after his own intervention. Something, of course, that was not confirmed in the definitions. It remains to be seen if the reason is because no other referee trio was found from abroad or if it is simply the choice of the English referee to appoint Papapetrou in the Thessaloniki derby. It should be noted that Papapetrou “raised” this year from the second to the first division of UEFA.

In regards to Arthur Soares, the Portuguese referee has directed three more races in Greece. The first was AEK’s 2-1 over Aris for the semi-finals of the Greek Novibet Cup in March 2020, while a few months later he whistled in Olympiakos’ 1-0 over Panathinaikos for the regular season of the championship. Finally, last April he refereed the 0-0 draw with AEK for the playoffs.

From then on, Panaitolikos-Panathinaikos was appointed the Tsagarakis with assistants Petropoulos and Siniorakis, fourth Tsimenteridis and VAR Manouhos.
