Stoiximan Super League: A day full of derbars!

by

Rich action with four matches and… a full derby, includes Sunday’s (17/9) schedule for the 4th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League.

From one, in the evening at 21:30, AEK welcomes Olympiakos to the OPAP Arena. A little earlier, at 8:30 p.m., PAOK hosts Aris in Toumba, while at 6:00 p.m. the newcomers’ derby takes place between Kifissia and Panserraikos in Kaisariani.

The program opens at 15:00 with Asteras Tripoli-PAS Ioannina.

It is reminded that on Saturday (16/9) Mr Panathinaikos reached a wide margin (0-5) over him Panaitolikowhile the Ghoul and OFI they brought the satisfying 2-2.

Asteras Tripoli-PAS Ioannina

Asteras Tripoli started their home matches against PAS Ioannina perfectly, having four wins in the same number of games between them, but then in nine matches they have managed to win just twice.

In other words, the team from Epirus has been defeated in just two of their last nine visits there, while in their last five games in Arcadia there are two victories of Asteras, two of PAS Ioannina and their last year’s draw there.

The two teams went on a run of four draws from 2013-14 to 2016-17 followed by PAS Ioannina’s first win away to Tripoli 2-1 on 19 August 2017 in a league opener.

PAS Ioannina has just one defeat in the last eight independent home games between them, this one on February 2, 2022 with 2-0 in Tripoli. In the other seven matches there are four draws and three wins for the team from Epirus.

In total, in the Super League, they have met 27 times in both venues and only 12 of them were won by the home team.

Only in one meeting in Tripoli has a goal not been scored in a game between them and their only 0-0 was on February 20, 2016.

Kifissia-Panserraikos

The two teams have never met in the past, since they didn’t even last season in the second division, where they were in a different group.

Kifissia is in its maiden year in the Super League, while Panserraikos is in the 25th season of its history in the category.

Panserraikos, who were in the top division for the first time in 1965-66, have faced 52 of the other 69 teams that have participated in the Super League/National League. Kifisia will be their 53rd opponent in the championship and the last time the Serres team faced a “new” opponent was in 2010-11 when they met Corfu.

In his previous appearance in the Super League, in 2008-09, he faced most of the “new” opponents, since that season he faced Asteras Tripoli, Thrasyvoulos, Panthrakikos and Ergotelis for the first time.

Panserraikos has not co-existed with Ethniki Asteras in the Super League/A’ Ethniki and thus has not competed at the level of the top division at the stadium of Kaisariani. The last time he played there was on November 13, 2011 for the championship of the second division, where he won 1-0 against National Star.

Kifisia last used the stadium of Kaisariani as a home base on November 28, 2022 in the match against Kallithea, where they won 2-0. In its first match for the Stoiximan Super League, it had used the stadium of Lamia and won 2-1 against Atromitos in the first victory in its history in the category.

PAOK-Aris

The two teams in last year’s championship had met one game earlier (3rd) and at the home of Aris, where they drew 0-0.

This is their 63rd meeting with host PAOK since 1959-60 when the Super League/A’ National Team was established.

PAOK in their last three games has the same number of wins and last year they maintained their unbeaten streak against Aris with a goalless draw at “Kleanthis Vikelidis” on the 3rd matchday and continued with three wins, two in Toumba and one away for the Stoiximan Playoffs process. .

In the 2021-22 season it was Aris who remained unbeaten in the four games between them, again with the same harvest of results, three wins and a clean draw.

In the last eight – regardless of home – there are only three home wins, with two by PAOK and one by Aris.

In eight of their last ten games in both venues, only one of the two opponents has scored and the streak was broken in their last two games last year for the Stoiximan Playoffs process.

The longest unbeaten streak that PAOK has run against Aris as a home team is eleven consecutive matches and started on April 2, 2000 with a 3-2 victory and was broken for the Yellows on October 3, 2010, when they won 1-0 thanks to in the goal of Havitto. In those eleven matches, PAOK won nine times and there were two draws.

2-0 in favor of PAOK is the most popular score that exists in the matches between them, since 11 of the 32 victories of Dikephalos are by 2-0. PAOK’s 1-0 wins follow with seven appearances, as many as the 0-0 draw. Six of Aris’ 11 wins are 1-0.

AEK-Olympiakos

The two teams met three times last season with AEK playing host in the league and Greek Cup, with the balance prevailing in their results, with a win for the Black and Yellows for the Cup, a win for the Red and Whites for the regular season and a white tie for the Stoiximan Playoffs process.

The balance was also absolute in the overall games played at both venues, with AEK having two wins, Olympiakos another two and there being one clean draw at each venue.

Olympiacos have now gone nine matches away to AEK without defeat, a record which is the best in the history of derbies held at A’ National/Super League level since 1959-60.

AEK’s last home win in the league was on September 24, 2017 with 3-2 at the Olympic Stadium. In these nine matches from then until today, there are four draws and five wins for Olympiakos.

The most popular score between the two teams is 1-1 with ten appearances, while in second place is 1-0 in favor of AEK with nine appearances, along with clean draws (9 times). The most popular scores in Olympiakos’ victories are 1-0 and 2-1 with five appearances.

Thomas Mavros with nine goals is at the top of the list of scorers for the home games against AEK, while Youssef El Arabi has climbed to the second place, who has scored seven times away from home against AEK. Daniel Batista has four goals, two of them as an AEK player and the other two with Olympiakos.
