The EKO Acropolis Rally 2022 “Returns” for a unique spectacle in OAKA, at the same time that, beyond the narrow competitive context, the Rally of the Gods expands its social face.
With the baton now officially handed over to the 2022 event, the EKO Rally Acropolis “closes” the year that was another milestone in its history, due to its return to the most important institution of Rally racing in the world.
Earlier today, the Deputy Minister of Sports and chairman of the Organizing Committee of the match, Lefteris Avgenakis, gave a press conference at the Ministry of Sports, making an assessment of this year’s achievements, but also giving the stigma for what is to follow.
The Deputy Minister of Sports referred to the holding of a Conference, at the beginning of next month, where the University of Peloponnese and Kapa Research will analyze the financial footprint and the impact of the match in the country, while invited by the FIA, the Promoter of the institution and the sponsors will outline the next, hybrid day of the institution in general, and the EKO Rally Acropolis in particular.
Regarding the wider face of the race, having laid the foundations of organized Road Safety Actions this year, the EKO Rally Acropolis will further strengthen the efforts in this direction and, as noted by Mr. Avgenakis, “The Ministry of Sports and Motorsport Greece, in collaboration with the sports family, will continue until next September to plan Road Safety Actions throughout Greece, with the aim of raising the awareness of as many of our fellow citizens on this issue.”
The example of EKO Rally Acropolis will be followed by another great international event, the “International Cycling Tour of Greece”, which is revived and will promote internationally unique images of the country from Crete to Ioannina, shortly after Easter, when the event is scheduled of.
In the framework of press conference and following the commitment of the Deputy Minister of Sports for a complete upgrade of motor sports in the country, it was announced the organization in Greece of the Rally Star institution, which is under the roof of the FIA:
“Our goal is to bring out young, talented drivers and give them the opportunity, with the support of the State, to spread their wings. For this reason, we are organizing the Rally Star with the Hellenic Motor Sports Federation, with which we have an excellent cooperation.
“It is an FIA institution that” runs “on all continents and by all its members, in order to emerge the next generation of drivers of the World Rally Championship”, said Mr. Avgenakis, while the details of the institution were analyzed by the head of EKO Rally Acropolis, Anita Pasali.
As a result of the “entry” of the country and in this institution, in the EKO Rally Acropolis 2022 will be counted the FIA Junior category, with about 12 participants with Ford Fiesta Rally 3.
The 2022 event is much closer than the dates may indicate, and the Organizing Committee of the match is working on its planning, however, through the Deputy Minister of Sports, another reason was revealed for each of his friends to “tune in” to the next day. :
“Having raised the bar so high (with the COSMOTE 5G Athens Stage) and listening to the thirst of the fans to see their favorite match up close, for 2022 we are planning an impressive super special route, inside the central stadium of the Athens Olympic Sports Center.
“Thus, many more motorsport fans, families – and not only – who do not have the opportunity to be on the special routes in the region, will have the opportunity to watch the race closely, but also to be guided to the new, upgraded OAKA” .
