The main protagonist for the winners was Cody Miller-McIntyre, with the American guard finishing the match with 17 points. He was closely followed by Chima Moneke with 15 points, while significant help was provided by Sedekerskis (11 p., 13 p.). As far as he is concerned Nikos Rogavopoulos, played for just 4:51′, having 3 points on 1/2 3-pointers.

For the Germans, who suffered their second defeat in as many first matches, the standouts were: Schneider (17p.) and Tillman (13p., 10r.).

The match:

The beginning of the match was quite balanced, with the two teams exchanging successive “blows” in the first minutes of the match. With Cody Miller McIntyre scoring eight quick points, the Baskonia led 10-6 in the 4th minute, while, a little later, with Howard’s three-pointer and Moneke’s shots, the Basques went to 20-15 at 8′. Spagnolo and Sneijder gave some aggressive solutions to Alba Berlin for 21-25 of the quarter.

Two consecutive three-pointers from him Rogavopoulos and Marinkovic early in the second period brought the Basques up for the first time at +8 (25-33). Somewhere there, the Berliners upped the ante and with a sustained counter-attack reduced the difference to the minimum value (40-41) at 16′, before Baskonia’s perimeter line found some easy baskets towards the final, with the Spaniards heading to the dressing room with 51-47 in their favor.

In the third quarter came the competitive explosion of the Basques, who with a flurry of three-pointers shot the difference even at +16 (59-75) in the 29th minute. And while everything showed that the visitors had the momentum and were managing the match, Alba reacted in the fourth and final period, reducing to 3 (86-89), one minute before the final. In fact, in the end, the Germans had the opportunity to send the match to overtime, but instead of taking a three-point shot, Castello missed a two-pointer, with Moneke then setting up the final 91-86 from the firing line.

The quarters: 21-25, 47-51, 61-76, 86-91.
