New comments on VAR decision in Arsenal’s defeat by Newcastle, given by Mikel Arteta.

The Spanish coach emphasized that there is no way for him to regret what he said in front of the cameras, while he added that he must defend his team. At the same time, he said that the situation with VAR in English football should be improved.

His statements in detail:

“It is my duty to sit in front of you, in front of the cameras, and give a clear and honest assessment of what happened in the game. And that’s what I did, I put out how I felt about my team’s performance and the fact that the match was affected by certain decisions.

My duty is to defend my players, to support the club, to protect my people in the best possible way and that is exactly what I am doing, situation with VAR in English football, it should be improved immediately.

I always do and I take responsibility for doing it. I have to defend my club. We should speak out loud. If you have a problem and you lock it in a drawer, it will stay locked there and at some point it will smell bad.

When you have a problem, you should talk about it and try to improve the situation. That’s what we’re trying to do and nothing more.”
