Finally and officially Tsiolis from Herakles

Sakis Tsiolis resigned from the bench of Iraklis. The “blue and red” have announced the end of the collaboration between the two sides, with the experienced coach taking responsibility for the state of the team.

In detail, the announcement:

“PAE P.O.T HERACLIS announces that the coach of our team, Sakis Tsiolis, submitted his resignation to the major shareholder, Stratos Evgeniou and the members of the Management, which was accepted.

The Management of PAE thanks the coach for our perfect cooperation during his one year stay at the helm of the team and wishes him the best in whatever he does in the future” says Geraios’ announcement.

Tsiolis has been at the helm of the team since December 14, 2022. After seven matches, Iraklis is in 11th place in Group A with five points.

Tsiolis’ statement: “After the meeting of the PAE Board of Directors and me, it was decided at the given moment, with my suggestion of course, that for the situation the team has found itself in, competitively and in terms of points, I should take full responsibility and in these cases resignation is the only way for a coach.

I would say that this team, maybe in the details, if we exclude the match in Volos, was equal or even superior to the teams they faced. And I’m upset, because if the 2 penalties with Levadeiakos and Apollon Pontos had gone in, we might have managed things better. Let’s also take into account that we were forced in our home games, to play in an extremely unsuitable playing field in the Kautanzoglio Stadium and even without our great strength, which is our fans.

I am responsible for the roster, we evaluated and decided to build a young team, given that we had the “breach” of licensing. And of course, always with the rationale for the good of the team, to reduce the budget compared to last year’s roster, since we had to deal with the appeals of Mara-Jacob and other players and I think we did the right thing.

A big thank you to the President and his Management for the honor they gave me to coach the historic and great HERACLES. We’ve had a lot of good times, joys and sorrows lately, but that’s football.

A big thank you to the world, every day I received love and appreciation from everyone. For this world and the history of the team, I left two very good professional proposals, one in the summer and one a month and a half ago, but I had to be “present” and fight this battle together.

A big thank you to doctors, physiotherapists, caregivers, my amazing colleagues and of course to the protagonists who were the football players, with whom I will contact separately about our collaboration.

Big thanks also to the two amazing girls at the PAE offices, Emi Voutsa and Aleka Ioannidou, as well as to the team’s Press Officer, Yannis Roumeliotis, for what we went through.

I hope this decision of mine will relieve everyone in the football department in some way psychologically and soon the positive results will come and take the team even higher, as it deserves.”
