With a decisive goal from Sadio Mané in the penalty shootout, Senegal won this Sunday (6th), against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt, their first African Cup of Nations title in history.
The Senegalese had two runners-up so far. In 2019, in the previous edition of the competition, they lost the decision to Algeria. In 2002, they had been defeated by Cameroon.
The continent’s biggest champion with seven trophies, Egypt has not won the African Cup since 2010.
The second country that has won the cup most times, Cameroon hosted this year’s edition of the tournament, but fell in the semifinals, against Egypt. The Cameroonians were champions for the last time in 2017.
