Ferj breaks up with Flow after Monark’s comment on the Nazi party

by

Ferj (Federação de Futebol do Estado do Rio de Janeiro) broke the contract for broadcasting its state championship games with Flow Studios, responsible for the Flow Podcast, after presenter Monark made a comment in which he defended the existence of a party Nazi in Brazil.

The broadcasts of this year’s edition of the state championship in Rio de Janeiro were carried out by Flow Sport Club, the sports arm of Flow Studios.

“Ferj, defender of equality, respect and contrary to any kind of prejudice, announces the termination of the contract with Estúdios Flow, responsible for the Flow Sport Club podcast that broadcast games from the 2022 Carioca Championship, in apology for Nazism, a regime whose crimes against humanity to this day cause horror to anyone who values life”, wrote the entity in a note published this Tuesday (8).

The presenter’s comment was made on Monday (7), in an interview with federal deputies Kim Kataguiri (Podemos) and Tabata Amaral (PSB).

“The radical left has a lot more space than the radical right, in my opinion. Both had to have space, in my opinion,” said Monark. “I think the Nazi had to have the Nazi party recognized by law.”

Tabata Amaral countered the podcaster. The rejection of Monark’s comment, however, was not limited to the speech of the deputy on the program.

Junior Coimbra, son of Zico, informed that his father canceled the trip to the Flow Sport Club. The flamengo idol had a participation in the podcast scheduled for this Tuesday.

“My father was going to participate this afternoon at the Flow Sports Club, but he canceled as soon as he watched the video. It didn’t take much…”, Junior posted on Twitter.

ESPN commentator and American sports expert Antony Curti was due to participate in the podcast on Friday (11), but he also canceled his interview.

“Given what happened yesterday (Monday), I will not go to Flow Sport Club on Friday. I hope you understand. Thank you”, posted the journalist.

Presenter Benjamin Back, from SBT, commented on his social networks that he would like to have the episode in which he participated in the Flow Sport Club removed from the air. Back, who is Jewish, had his request granted.

“If I had known that you support Nazism, I would never have participated in this podcast! I would even like my episode to be taken off the air, because I do not condone that kind of thinking. Sad to know that you think like that, tolerate and support Nazism is unacceptable,” said the presenter.
