The decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union “exploded” like a bomb, with which it ruled that there is no “monopoly” of UEFAgiving the right to European Super League to proceed with its plans to create a new competition that will completely change the map of European football.
Unlike Real Madrid and Barcelona who commented positively on the said decision, Atletico MADRID with a statement he opposed the new venture, emphasizing, among other things, that: “We are in favor of protecting the big family of European football, protecting domestic leagues».

“Atlético Madrid, after analyzing the decision of the Court of the European Union, wants to state the following:
1. The resolution on the prior approval framework for other competitions refers to an old UEFA statute that was already amended in June 2022.
2. The European Club Association (ECA) and UEFA have created a partnership which renders the view that UEFA is a monopoly irrelevant, as the clubs, by virtue of the agreements adopted under this joint partnership (“consortium”) , decide 50% to whom the sponsorship and television rights are sold and the distribution of said revenues, as well as the forms of the competition.
3. The European football family does not want the European Super League. Germany, France, England, Italy, Spain (except Real Madrid and Barcelona) etc. They don’t want the Super League. We are in favor of protecting the big family of European football, protecting domestic leagues and through them, qualifying for European competitions on the pitch each season».
