“PAE Panathinaikos announces the start of its collaboration with coach Fatih Terim.

The Turkish coach was born on September 4, 1953 in Adana. He started his football career in Demirspor and continued in Galatasaray, while he also played in the Turkish national team.

As a coach he had a great journey, being by far the second best coach in Turkey, having won eight championships and a UEFA Cup with Galatasaray. He also led the Turkish National Team to the semi-finals of the Euro.

His first team as coach was Ankaragucu in 1987, followed by Goztepe. In 1990 he took over the Turkish national K21 team and three years later he became the first coach of the Men’s national team.

Galatasaray followed, where from 1996 to 2000 it won four championships in a row and of course Terim’s top success was the UEFA Cup in 2000 (4-1 Arsenal on penalties)! Immediately after that came the absolute recognition of his work with the hiring of Fiorentina. He stayed at the Serie A team until the end of February 2001. In the summer of 2001, one of the top Italian teams, Milan, signed a contract with Terim.

In 2002 he returned to Galatasaray, where he remained until 2004 amid many financial and administrative difficulties. In 2005 he returned to the Turkish national team and managed to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2008. He resigned in 2009, stayed out for a year and a half and in 2011 Galatasaray called him to find the path to success. Indeed, Terim brought “Chim Bom” back to the titles, winning two championships. In September 2013, he left Galatasaray and returned for his third term in the Turkish national team. He stayed for four years and finally followed the familiar route, back to his base, Galatasaray. He took over for the fourth time in December 2017, celebrated two more championships and completed his run there in January 2022.

We welcome Fatih Terim to the Panathinaikos family!”
