Fortune’s deja vu with Lamia

THE Olympic met painful defeat with 1-0 in Lamia losing even more ground in the championship claim. THE Kostas Fortounis it was fatal, as in the 50′ he failed to score with a penalty.

It’s about sixth missed penalty for the leader of Piraeus in 21 executions in the leaguewhile this year he has 0/2, as he had not even converted the last penalty against Aris into a goal.

However, it was yesterday the first time a missed Fortunis penalty in the league has cost points in Olympiakos. In the previous cases, his team had managed to get the victory by playing all at home:

18/11/2017: Olympiacos-Levadiakos 2-1

26/08/2018: Olympiakos-Levadiakos 1-0

14/06/2020: Olympiacos-Aris 3-1

07/02/2021: Olympiacos-OFI 3-0

27/09/2023: Olympiacos-Aris 4-1

In fact, yesterday’s missed penalty woke him up bad memories for Olympiakos. On February 28, 2019 and the 1-0 defeat by… Lamia in “G. Karaiskakis” in the repeat quarter-final 0-0 for the Cup, Fortounis had seen Bojan Saranov save a penalty in the 86′ and finally the “red and whites” were eliminated. That penalty had been won by Daniel Pontense, in his first term at the port.

In total, Fortounis is 21/30 in penalties in his career. Apart from the seven mentioned above (six in the league and one in the Cup), he had failed to score in the friendly Austria-Greece 3-2 on 5/9/2011, in Olympiakos-Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 in the Champions League groups on 4/11/2015.
