At the last training session of the national men’s handball, before its departure for Germany, in view of its participation, for the first time, in the final phase of the European Championship, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, was present, accompanied by the General Secretary of Sports, Giorgos Mavrotas. Mr. Vroutsis congratulated the federation on the recent successes of the sport and wished the players and the technical staff good luck on the pitches of Germany.
“In the last training of our national men’s handball team, before leaving tomorrow for the fields in Germany, where our expatriates are waiting for them, for the historic first participation of the “blue and white” in the final phase of the European Championship. I wished “good luck” to our internationals and the worthy technical staff, congratulating them, as well as the Federation, on the great progress of our representative groups in recent years, after that golden two years of 2004-2005 with the distinctions at the Olympic Games and the World Championship! Proof, that even our youngest age national teams (Youth and Adolescents) will compete in the respective European Championships this year, something that happens for the first time in the 47-year history of the sport in our country” states the Deputy Minister of Sports in his post, and concludes: “And as I pointed out to our athletes, seeing the thirst for even more feats on their faces and assuring them of the continuous support of the State, strong and united, with the national emblem on the chest, everyone’s expectations will come true».
