He won the Basque derby and Valverde’s Bilbao sees… stars!

by

Let the next pass! THE Athletic Bilbao of Ernesto Valverde continues with broken brakes in La Liga, as he also took the Basque derby, winning 2-1 of Sociedad in “San Mames”, and with its 4th consecutive victory, it caught Barcelona in 3rd place!

The Catalans, of course, have less matches, since tomorrow (14/01, 21:00) they play the Super Cup final against Real Madrid. In any case, the “lions” that remain undefeated since October 22 in the championship, they show that they can be one of the four teams that will shake the Champions League sheet next year!

The first half belonged entirely in Athletic. The hosts they were pushing from the start of the match, with Sociedad waiting at half-field. So, after warning several times, Valverde’s side opened the scoring, with Berenger in the 30th minute taking advantage of back-to-back defensive mistakes to send the ball into the net. The same player, moreover, “hit” in the 42nd minute, from a new oligarchy in the defense of the compatriot, “writing” with a place the 2-0! It’s impressive that Berenger has had two goals in the league so far and scored two more tonight!

In the second 45 minutes, Bilbao was more conservative, with Sociedad looking for the goal that would put them back in the match. This finally came in 87′, with Oyarthambalmaking for a thriller in the last few minutes, but the visitors were unable to really threaten an equaliser, with the score remaining at 2-1 until the final whistle.
