Olympiacos for Giorgos Darivas: “You were one of those who made our team a LEGEND”

A great personality, a legendary football player, who honored the red and white striped jersey and identified his life with the Olympic Fan Association of Piraeus. An artist of the ball, a unique person, who was born on March 12, 1926, almost together with Olympiakos, and until the end of his life attended the friendly games of the veterans of the team. A striker ahead of his time, a member of the legendary team of the ’50s that had swept the Championships and Cups in Greece.

He was to make his first appearance for Olympiakos on 21 July 1946, playing mainly on the right of midfield. He stood out for his speed and dribbling, which is why he was adored by the world and became an integral member of the team – Thrylos, which won eight Championships (1948, ’51, ’52, ’54, ’55, ’56, ’57, ’58) and six Cups (1951, ’52, ’53, ’54, ’57, ’58). He was top scorer in 1951 and second in 1949 and 1953, while scoring in five Cup finals. He offered to Olympiakos as a coach as well, winning the Cup in 1971 and 1975, while he was on the bench in the victorious 1975 Championship, from one point to the second round.
