Marques Townes was born on September 3, 1995 in Edison, New Jersey and inevitably has American citizenship, however he is Dominican and an international with the Dominican Republic National Team. He has a height of 1.93, is a guard and yesterday he completed his cooperation with BK Opava, with whom he actually played for the last time in a match for the Czech championship (scoring 14 points, in the away victory over Decin). With Opava, Marques Townes had three appearances in the Basketball Champions League, averaging 16.7 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists against Promethea, Rytas Vilnius and Dijon. In the 9 games he played in the Czech league, he had 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
He started playing basketball at St.Joseph High School, where he was teammates with NBA star Carl Anthony Towns and Wade Baldwin who plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
He played two years at Fairleigh Dickinson College and the last two years of his collegiate career at Loyola Chicago. With the Ramblers, he participated in the 2018 NCAA final tournament and his team was the big surprise in March Madness that season.
Loyola reached the “8”, eliminating Nevada, with its own three-pointer at the end of the game.
He graduated in 2019 averaging 15.3 points, 5 rebounds and 3.6 assists and began his professional career in Spain, signing his first contract with Murcia. He managed to play in 14 games (6.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists) before the pandemic-induced layoff, but he also returned for the 2020-21 season, where he was teammates in Murcia with former player of PAOK, David DiLeo. The following year he started in Lithuania with Pieno Zvaigzdes (11.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3 assists) and finished the season in France with Tours (A2), with 11.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3 ,4 assists in 19 games.
In the 2022-23 season he played in Hungary and in 26 games with KTE Duna Aszfalt he had 15.4 points 4 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
At the start of this season he was in Germany, but played in just 3 games with Merlins Craisheim (4.7 points, 1.1 rebounds), before moving on to Opava.
