Her quirky owner Steaua Bucharest lashed out at referee Cristina Trafandir, who was on VAR in the Premier League’s recent 3-2 win over Botosani and on her cue, two of the winners’ players were sent off and counted a wrongly disallowed away goal.
Known for his controversial views, Bekali stated among other things that “I like this referee, Catalin Bussy, he is a good person, it shows in his face. It’s not the match’s fault, or maybe it’s a little. But the woman in VAR is the one to blame. But I’m not mad at her, she’s my sister, we go to the same church.
So I give her a piece of advice. Does God want to fulfill her prayers? Let him quit refereeing, or go to women’s football. Don’t judge men, women come from man’s side. If she is told to direct men she should refuse and mind her own business. How can she go to a man and tell them that he’s dumb and she’s smart? He can’t do that.
These come with gender equality. The world will fall apart. But that won’t happen here. We will not have gender equality in Romania».
Of course, this was not the first time that the Romanian tycoon caused reactions with his words, as in the past, among other things, he had attacked another referee saying that “went to whistle a match with the b@@@s out”.
