Making one of her best appearances this year, the Anatolou Efes prevailed with the impressive 109-86 of Bayern Munich in Istanbul, in the context of the 28th matchday of the Euroleague!
By Shane Larkin in a terrible night of execution, the Turks finished the match with 17 accurate three-pointers and a 49% hit rate, getting to the pink scorecard more easily than even they could have imagined.
Top scorer for the promoted winners at 12-16 and they reduced – even temporarily – to one victory difference in the top ten, was the American guard with 28 points and 4 assists. He was closely followed by Clyburn with 21 points.
For the Bavarians, who fell to 12-16 (losing the tie with Efes), the Edwards and Lucic with 19 and 18 points respectively.
The match:
The pace of the match was excellent and fast from the very beginning of the match, with the Bayern Munich to enter stronger on the floor and lead 16-9 in the 5th minute. The three-pointers of Ibaka and Edwards, but also the shots of Booker sent the Bavarians at +9 (17-26) two minutes later, before Anadolu Efes hit back late in the quarter and through Willis, Clyburn and Larkin reduced it to 26-28 of the period.
Despite back-to-back 3-pointers from Clyburn and Willis early in the second period, Pablo Lasso’s side continued to have the upper hand in the scoring, thanks in large part to the actions of Lucic (34-41 at 15′). However, the Turks, with a “hot” three minutes at the end of the quarter, ran a partial score of 13-3, thus closing the half in front with 53-49!
With speed gained from the good finish of the first part, Efes entered the third quarter, with Tomislav Mijatovic’s team essentially “clearing” the case for victory! And that’s because the home team closed the period with an impressive 35-16 individual score, thus blowing the difference at +23 for 88-65 of the quarter! An interval in which the Turks got “fire” behind from 6.75m, with six accurate three-pointers, at the time when the Shane Larkin he succeeded on his own 14 points!
Somehow, the fourth and last period acquired a procedural character, since Anatolou Efes managed to manage the match and the big difference in their favor. In fact, they continued to be just as productive despite the fact that everything was decided, eventually getting the pink card with the final 109-86!
The quarters: 26-28, 53-49, 88-65, 109-86.
