AEK: Almeida’s reward and… anguish

by

The three-week break in the championship found her AEK in first place of the Stoiximan Super League. THE Matias Almeida wanting to reward his players for the very good face of the team, he gave a day off until Tuesday, while he is expected to release them for the coming weekend, offering them extra breaths for the difficult continuation.

The Argentinian coach, however, has his own anxiety during the break. On the one hand, he does not want his team to be disorganized in view of the three derby series he has in eight days with Olympiakos (31/3), Panathinaikos (3/4) and PAOK (7/4) and which will decide a lot in the battle for the title. And on the other hand, because during this period, several players will be missing due to international commitments.

Key executives of AEK, such as Pineda, Garcia, Vida, Simanski, Rota, Mandalos, Gacinovic and others they are expected to be away from Spata for about ten days even giving most of them crucial games (e.g. the Greeks are claiming qualification for the Euro, Mexico is in the Final 4 for the Nations League, while Trinidad and Tobago is claiming a place in the Copa America). The burden will be a given, from travel, training and games, with Almeida hoping that no unforeseen events arise, in order to have a full arsenal with the restart, as all the injured are expected to return except perhaps only Zini.
