Atlético-MG and Flamengo decide on Sunday (20) the title of the Supercopa do Brasil, defined in a single match, at 4 pm, at Arena Pantanal, in Cuiabá. The match will be shown by Globo and SporTV.
The trophy is disputed between the current Brazilian champion against the winner of the Copa do Brasil. As the Minas Gerais team won both titles in the 2021 season, the Carioca team entered the dispute with the condition of national runner-up last season.
The red-blacks, by the way, won the last two editions of the Supercup, in 2020 by beating Athletico and in 2021, by beating Palmeiras. Atlético-MG competes in the competition for the first time.
According to the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), this Sunday’s champion will pocket R$5 million as a prize, while the runner-up will take home R$2 million.
Also according to the entity, tickets for the match range from R$50 to R$300. For now, only the sector destined exclusively for red-black fans, the lower north, is sold out.
Stadium built for the 2014 World Cup, Arena Pantanal has a capacity for 43 thousand people.
Initially, however, the Supercup decision was scheduled to take place at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília, but the CBF had to change its headquarters because of sanitary restrictions in the federal capital.
