Five months in prison for a former Apollon Smyrnis football player

With his freedom for five months he paid Anthony Stokes the violation of the restraining orders imposed on him for the continued harassment of his ex-partner and her family.

The former football player, who had also passed by Apollo of Smyrna unsuccessful in 2018, he has already been behind bars for a month and will remain there for another five.

The Irishman was banned from contacting Eileen Scott and her family in 2019, but failed to appear in court as he was due in 2021 and was arrested in 2022, then posted bail before disappearing again.

A new warrant was issued for his arrest last October, with Stokes surrendering a month ago and being immediately jailed.

His spokesman spoke of the former forward’s difficult life in prison due to his fellow inmates knowing who he is, claiming he is forced to spend 23 hours a day in his cell for his safety.

It all happened between 2018 and 2019, during which time Stokes had sent dozens offensive and threatening messages to his ex-partner and her family, while on one occasion he had gone out of her house late at night, causing a disturbance.

Her once talented soccer player Arsenalthe 35-year-old Irishman has switched teams a number of times, including Sunderland, Hibernian and Celtic, while also playing for his home country nine times.

In 2018 he played four times for Apollon Smyrnis, but it was a thing of the past after a string of disciplinary offences, going on to play in Iran and Turkey as well.
