College basketball legend and former Hellenic Men’s National Team coach Rick Pitino… is coming back. The accomplished coach, who developed particularly strong ties to our country and its basketball, accepted the proposal of an expanded cooperation, he and their partners, in matters of development in order to offer the expertise of the USA college basketball and to propose ways of implementation of the EEC development program.
Today (27/3), coach Pitino met at the EEC offices with EEC president Vangelis Liolios, general manager Dino Sverkounos and national team manager Dimos Dikoudis where they discussed the basic plan of this collaboration, while he watched with colleagues and the training of the National Youth Team, ahead of their participation in the “Albert Schweitzer” tournament in Mannheim.
Rick Pitino pointed out the importance of development saying characteristically that “this is the main demand for Greek basketball, for there to be a proper development of the young players not only to be good for their teams, but for the National team, this is the” key” to see how many can become the next Diamantidis, Spanoulis, the creation of this system is the most important.
