Conference League: “Riddle” the movement of fans for the final

The meeting that took place on Tuesday at the “G. Karaiskakis” regarding the safe conduct of the Europa Conference League final between Olympiakos and Fiorentina, which will take place at the OPAP Arena on May 29.

The meeting was attended by EPO, UEFA and HELLA officials, while an autopsy followed at the “Faliro” station of ISAP, as well as at the places where Olympiakos fans will gather, in order to be transported, escorted by the police, to New Philadelphia.

It was preceded on Monday by a meeting at the Ministry of Citizen Protection as well as a visit by GADA officers to Belgium. The security measures to be put in place will be specified after the meetings and contacts are completed.

The movement of fans

At the heart of the concerns of the Authorities is the return of thousands of tickets from the Italians, with the prevailing scenario being that they will be allocated to the “red and whites”. It is estimated that the Italian fans will amount to 3,000 to 4,000. On the other hand, the fans of Olympiakos will exceed 10,000, while they may even reach 15,000.

Regarding the issue of the movement of Olympiakos fans to the AEK stadium, it seems that the idea of ​​choosing ISAP, starting from the “G. Karaiskakis” and destination “Pefkakia” and “Perissos” stations, from where the police forces will pick up the fans and escort them on foot to the stadium.

According to information, even from the starting point no one will be allowed to enter the carriages without a ticket and everyone will be checked by the Police, while there will be foot and mounted patrols on the streets of New Philadelphia, where the Olympiacos fans will pass, for to prevent any meetings with AEK fans.

“Safety net” at OPAP Arena

For the smooth conduct of the match, echelons from services such as Anti-Terrorism and State Security are involved, due to threats to major sporting events, while information is also collected through Europol. The participation of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues is also intense in terms of information.

It is expected that the forces involved in total will be reminiscent of the measures put in place in the November 17 protests. At least 48 hours before the final, a “security net” will be created around the stadium of New Philadelphia.

Measures will also be increased during attendance hours, with double and triple checks of fans in zones, while a helicopter and drones will provide a direct image of the GADA Operations Center.
