Reinforcement in the position of the goalkeeper for the Athens Kallithea.
The Southern Suburbs team that got promotion for the Stoiximan Super League announced its acquisition Ioannis Geliou -provided he successfully passes the medical tests- who last season made excellent appearances with Ionic in the second half of the season.

“Athens Kallithea FC announces that it has reached an agreement with Greek-German goalkeeper Ioannis Gelios, who will join the club after his contract with Super League 2 side Ionikos expires on July 1, 2024, subject to the successful completion of a medical.
Gelios, 32, has spells from the second division in Germany and Turkey, while he came to Greece last winter and impressed at Ionian during the second half of the 2023/24 season.
Born in Augsburg, Gelios rose through FC Augsburg’s academy where he made 112 total appearances over eight seasons with FC Augsburg II’s reserves in Germany’s fourth division, while the first team competed in the Bundesliga.
Leaving his hometown club, Gelios rose through the ranks in Germany, making 37 starts (10 clean sheets) at 3. Liga side Hansa Rostock in the 2018/19 season, and followed that up with 63 starts (18 clean sheets ) to Holstein Kiel of the 2. Bundesliga from 2019/20 to 2021/22.
Gelio’s next stop was Turkey, where he made 51 appearances as a starter (15 clean sheets) during a season and a half at second division Bandirmaspor.
In January 2024, Gelios joined Greece for Ionikos, making 12 appearances as a starter (4 clean sheets) in the second half of the 2023/24 season as the club finished third in the promotion race.
