It was the bad time… O Alberto Brignoli came to AEK with the… Iron Man tag, as throughout his career he had lost very few games. A misfortune, however, in the warm-up of the match with the Inter D’Escaldes resulted in a fracture that will keep him out of action for about two and a half months.
It is impressive that the Italian goalkeeper, who turns 33 on August 19, has been absent from the obligations of his teams for reasons of… force majeure for a total of 30 days, absent from a total of seven matches!
Specifically and according to data from the authoritative Transfermarkt, from March 2 to 19, 2015 he had missed three Ternana matches due to a muscle injury (overextension), from December 6 to 17, 2020 he had also missed three Eboli games due to COVID-19, while from April 5 to 7, 2023, he was absent from a Panathinaikos match due to back problems. In ALL other games Brignoli was available and healthy counting 396 official appearances in his career!
Now unfortunately he will have to wait until around October to come back. At the same time, AEK, which has been by his side since the beginning, will march with them Strakosa and Theoharias – at this stage at least – there is no intention to acquire a third goalkeeper this summer, nor to activate any of Stankovic and Athanasiadis who remain on the list of players under concession.
