He beat United in the 89th minute, beat them in the penalty shootout and City lifted the first cup of the season!

by

Victorious in his battle Manchester and first trophy of the season on the Island of City!

Pep Guardiola’s team was the winner of his final Community Shieldbeating United with 7-6 in the process of penalty kick. It was preceded by a match tied in… goalposts (24′ McAtee – 75′ Rashford) and goals (1-1), with Garnazzo to open the scoring at 82′ and the celebrant Silva (turned 30 years old) to answer to 89′taking the match straight to the penalty shootout. Where they did not find nets Sancho and Evans for the “red devils” and from the side of “citizens” o Silva (but without ending up being beautiful…fatal).

Thus, the “citizens” arrived at seven conquests Community Shield, catching Tottenham in 5th place, with United remaining at 21 but also alone first in the relevant list (against Arsenal’s 17 trophies).

It should be noted that it was the fifth of the last eight Community Shield finals that ended 1-1, to be followed by the penalty shoot-out.

The match:

Identifying the first minutes of the final. For a long time the tempo was lowwith City having taken the initiative of the moves.

Towards the end of the fortnight, the “citizens” began to threatenalso producing collected phases. First, with Doku and Bob, to get to the 24′ when City came within a breath of the goal. After a mistake by Martines, the typical home team stole at a crucial point, with McAtee to catch a foul shot inside the area, but seeing the ball end up on the right beam.

Nevertheless, then United not only equalized but for a seven minute period began to create one chance after another. In fact, almost all of them arose after great collaborations outside or inside the opponent’s area. In the 29th minute, Diallo threatened, in the 31st minute he was the one who messed up the final transfer (after a nice “1-2”), while in the 36th minute, Rashford’s shot went wide.

And since Doku’s shot in the 44th minute did not end up in the net, the first – eventually balanced – half ended without a score.

The two teams started the second half without changes.

Few phases again at the start, with Fernandez -rightly- seeing the goal he scored in the 54th minute (terrible high-hanging faltered shot outside the area) canceled due to offside.

Lots of changes then, four for United (with Pellistri – whose name this summer was linked to Panathinaikos for the winger – coming in to play as a right-back), two for City. Differences that gave life to both teams, with the “red devils” threatening in the 69th minute with Fernandes and the “citizens” with Savinho (67th minute) and Akanji (70th minute).

To get to 75′ when (with the match at 0-0) there was also a tie on the goal posts: Take-it for him Garnazzo to Rashfordwho without pressure executed with the left sending the ball to the right post!

And after Ten Hach’s team missed another great opportunity with his stupid header Rashford at 79′in 82′ her pressure paid off. THE Pelistri carried, o Fernandes broke extremely into Garnazzowho converged even better, stepped into the area and opened the scoring with his left!

However, City is always… City. From there he reacted, answering the 89′! Nice move by him Savinohis crosses Bob and the newcomer Bernardo Silva beating Pelistri in the air, he sends the ball into the net!

Nothing changed in the next five plus minutes of stoppage time, with the game going straight to penalties, where after 16 executions and with United having… last man Evans, City prevailed 7-6.

Lots of absencesforced and not, for both groups. For United out due to injury were Hoylund and the newly acquired Yoro. There are a lot of problems, overall in defense, since Lindelof, Shaw and Bissaka were also left out, with Maguire finally managing to enter the eleven. Also on the bench is the newly acquired Zirkzei.
