In one great transfer move proceeded the AEK in handball.
The famous Portuguese will wear the shirt of “Enos” this season, Gilberto Duarte.

“AEK is very pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Gilberto Duarte. The 34-year-old (07/06/1990) 1.97m tall Portuguese international left winger has signed his contract and joins the Club’s men’s Handball squad.
Gilberto Duarte is one of the top handball players that Portugal has produced, having written his own history, at home and abroad. He started the sport from Lagoa, while in 2007 he joined the Porto team.
He wore the “blue” jersey until 2016, winning a total of 7 Championships, 1 Cup, 1 League Cup and 2 Super Cups. In the two years 2016-2018 he competed in the Polish league and Wisla Plock.
In 2018, he took the big leap in his career, signing for Barcelona. With the Catalans, he won the Championship, the Cup, the League Cup and the Super Cup in Spain, while he reached F4 of the EHF Champions League, finishing 3rd.
In the three years 2019-2022, he wore the shirt of the French Montpellier, with which he reached the “8” of the EHF Champions League 2021-22, while in the last two years he played for the German Fries Göppingen and the French Aix.
He is an international with the Portugal National Team, counting more than 90 appearances and 280 goals.
