The Olympiakos women’s basketball team gathered at noon on Monday in room 5 of the SEF and started the hard work for the new competitive season, passing ergometric tests.
The only absentees for Thanos Niklas were Ivana Raja, Kira Lambert, Rebecca Tobin and Merritt Hembe, who will be integrated in the coming days in preparation.
Thanos Niklas emphasized: “Good season, good health! We started today with ergometrics. Some gymnasts are missing, but from next week, the whole roster will be here and we will start our program and our preparation for the new year normally. We are very lucky and we thank the president and the administration, because it was a period when we didn’t miss anything and we “built” a roster with the first choices we had.
Our first picks came to the team We are very satisfied. The goals remain very high. This year, we have the honor of being at the 100th anniversary of Olympiakos! It is very honorable for us to belong to this club, let alone in this period, in 100 years. Our goal is the double. In Europe, we belong to the best 16 teams, we play in the Euroleague and we will try to be as competitive as possible. We want to show the dynamics of the team in Europe as well.”
Angeliki Nikolopoulou added: “I wish, first of all, a happy new year, with good health. That matters, above all else. We start with a lot of appetite, same goals, lofty and new faces. We want the league and the Cup and, from there, to test our strength in Europe, compete with very good teams and do our best.
We know how big a team Olympiacos is, the biggest club in Greece. This year, it’s 100 years and we will try in all divisions to win as many titles as possible to celebrate it properly.”
